How to Track Opened Filament Spools

How can an inventory remain useful after several partial prints?

Work through the process

1. Give every physical spool a distinct name and color.
2. Record a starting net mass, price and material properties.
3. Log actual use or a measured correction and export periodic JSON backups.

Formula and worked illustration

A spool recorded at 460 g and later measured at 448 g needs a −12 g correction. The log explains the change without rewriting project history.

Inputs and limits

The inventory does not measure humidity or drying needs. Store those observations in notes. Local browser storage is not a permanent backup.
